Sunday, June 28, 2009 ( Hello from alice spring @ 8:16 PM ) I'm writing from Alice Spring in Aust. It's a semi-wu-lu town. Many things have happened, and I've bought some small gifts for u all, so don't worry about not having gifts. Today is also the last day of holidays for u all! Hope you have had spent your holidays wisely. Hope that you also had time to reflect and think about God's Word too, since most of the time during schooling you would be 'too busy'. Few more months before your O levels begin. Jia You for your studies. I'll post more updates and thoughts that i've been having for this trip when i have more time. Please continue to keep my brother and me in prayer, especially for our health and also our safety when we are traveling around. About the youths in church? 0 comments Sunday, June 14, 2009 ( Celebrations @ 11:40 PM ) Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. Revelation 21:1, ESV Today, my brother brought our family out for dinner followed by a closing ceremony of an arts festival at Yishun. The highlights of the show was the fireworks. It was a nice firework, much to my parents and brother's enjoyment. However grand and nice the celebration was, i was constantly reminded of the more grand, more nice, more purposefully celebration that will happen in the future for all christian. As I watched the show, i ponder about how in heaven the celebration will be like. How much more glorious and majestic that will be. What an eager expectation for all Christians to look forward to, when we can see God face to face and worship and glorify Him. In thinking of this however, i'm also reminded about how evil and sinful man can be. I remember a scene from a war film, where the person said that when they were under artillery attacks, it reminded them of their interdependence day, where normally lots and lots of fireworks will be displayed. What a creature man is, he is able to use the same gunpowder for Decorative purpose and Destruction. Therefore 1 Corinthians 12:9, ESV (bold, mine) The one who never recognizes who he really is, will never worship the One who demands recognition from his created ones.In our world, we are often told to present (boast) our strong points, and hide our weak points, never to talk about them. But that's not what we see from the bible. Paul tells us, he'll rather boast of his weakness than all the things he had done for the Lord. Why? The problem with the people who boasts about themselves is this: PRIDE, they think they are better than others. But put all of us together and examine ourselves. Who among us are righteous? Who among can stand to what God has called? Who among us has outdone the One who made us? What are we compared to God? Unless we see how limited and weak we really are, we will never stand amazed and awe at how infinite and power God is.
