Saturday, June 6, 2009 ( U boast, I boast @ 12:56 AM ) 31 so that, as it is written, “Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.” 1 Corinthians 1:31, ESV (italics and bold, mine) So what does it mean to boast in the Lord? 23 Thus says the Lord: “Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches, 24 but let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows me, that I am the Lord who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth. For in these things I delight, declares the Lord.” Jeremiah 9:23-24, ESV (italics and bold, mine) 9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore 1 Corinthians 12:9, ESV (bold, mine) The one who never recognizes who he really is, will never worship the One who demands recognition from his created ones.In our world, we are often told to present (boast) our strong points, and hide our weak points, never to talk about them. But that's not what we see from the bible. Paul tells us, he'll rather boast of his weakness than all the things he had done for the Lord. Why? The problem with the people who boasts about themselves is this: PRIDE, they think they are better than others. But put all of us together and examine ourselves. Who among us are righteous? Who among can stand to what God has called? Who among us has outdone the One who made us? What are we compared to God?
