( Worthless into Precious--Gwen Smith @ 10:24 PM )

Songs of Praise:
Above All
牺牲的爱
感谢神

"You are precious and honored in my sight..." (Isaiah 43:4a, NIV).

Hagar was a maidservant, a slave, who was forced to move to a foreign land and to sleep with the husband of her mistress. She was mistreated--the Bible makes that clear--and she had fair reason to run. When faced with difficult circumstances, Hagar ran away.
But when she found herself seemingly alone in the desert, God sought her out and called her by name. The God of the universe knew Hagar's name. Hagar was a slave, nobody in the eyes of society, yet our God spoke lovingly through the angel of the Lord to this hurting mother-to-be and whispered promises of blessing to her weary heart.
Stunned that the God of the universe cared to comfort her, Hagar responded by giving God a new name--El Roi, "the God Who Sees Me." She gave this name to the Lord who spoke to her: "You are the God who sees me," for she said, "I have now seen the One who sees me" (v. 13).

My Prayer:
Heavenly Father
In times when I feel hurt,
You'll always notice me.
Thank you for comforting me,
even though I so do not deserve Your love.
In Jesus Name I pray
Amen

Personal:
I'm thankful for God's presence in my life as there were a few times when I was really depressed. I felt uncared for in the world and life was so stressful at these points I felt like breaking down. Most of the time would pull at my hair or hit my head but there were times I felt so depressed I wanted to commit suicide. I almost took pills but it was at this moment where I would feel God's hands pulling me back to the right track, healing my wounds and comfort me. Treasure your life, it's worth more than you expected!

( @ 8:57 PM )

My QT of the day (30-06-08)
my passage of the day is 使徒行传 1:15-26

First of all, I have learnt that we should never underestimate our service for God and we should constantly guard our hearts from laziness and distractions while doing a task for God or when serving in a ministry. From the Bible, we can see that people like Judas who betrayed Jesus had actually ended up in an extremely terrible state! Indeed, judas earned a little sum of money, but that money is dirty, is from dishonesty and is sinful, and later on, he actually died when he fell headlong on the field he had bought with the 30 siver coins. we can see that not everything that we think is good or beneficial for to us is truly good or is pleasing to God!

God knows our heart. and it isn't just about knowing, but He examines it, therefore we must please God in everything we do and to let Him know that we ourselves acknowledge that our hearts belong to Him. A very good example would be the disciples from the verse in Acts. They depended on God as they were searching for a new person to replace Judas as one of the apostles. They prayed for prayed to the Lord, not neglecting the importance of the power of the Holy Spirit in whatever things they were serving in. they only depended on the Lord thus in the end, they were able to see that Matthias was the right person to replace Judas, the betrayer.

In conclusion, does the Church today advance and propagate the work of the Gospel or spread our belief in one accord and also doing them in the power and guidance of God? Or we regard serving Him as burdensome and irrelevant to our lives?

My prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, i thank you for letting me to know more about the importance of doing thins under your might and with your approval. I pray that you may continue to lead me and understand these Bible verses more detailed and also to apply them in my daily life, especially when serving in Fish and Sheep ministry and projection. teach me unity also, Lord, that i may honour your Name in whatever i do, including in school. Only in Jesus Christ Name, i pray, Amen.

thanks

( Poor @ 12:02 AM )

This happened a few days back.
I just alighted a bus and was about to have my meal when a uncle approached me and asked me for a dollar for his meal. Curious, i asked him what he could buy for a dollar, he answered bread. Therefore, i suggested to him that i take him to the bread shop to buy the bread for him, he refused and just walked away.
When he left, this verse (which was part of my QT that day) struck me
Deuteronomy 15:11 "For there will never cease to be poor in the land. Therefore I command you, 'You shall open wide your hand to your brother, to the needy and to the poor, in your land."
I wanted to help that guy to fill his stomach but i do think he's really using the meal thing as a excuse to get money for people.
The application for me from it would be to set aside money monthly to help the poor.
The application can be also brought further, not just to poor(materially) people, but also disabled (poor physically) people, students (academically poor).
What are we doing to help the poor people around us?

( The sheep and the shepherd @ 9:31 PM )

God is our shepherd. We listens to his voice and follows him. "For god so loved the world that he gaves his only Son(Jesus Christ),that whoever believe in him shall not perish but have eternal life."(NIV John 3:16). Jesus died for us and it is only right for us to listen to him but not the sinful world. Some sheep strays away from the shepherd and we are responsible to bring them back to him.

Prayer Requests:-pray that God will help us to be brave enough to bring back our friends to God.
-pray that God will also help us to be more responsible

Passage: Galatians chapter5: v1-13

Freedom in Christ

What i learnt:
-Christ set us free from sin, we are not slaves of sin anymore.
-We are justified by faith and not by just obeying the law.
v6(only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love)

Commands to obey:
-Do not use our freedom in christ to indulge in the sinful nature.
-Instead, we should serve one another in love.
v14(Love your neighbour as yourself)

Let us be reminded to love our neighbour as ourselves although it is very difficult to do so because you may dislike some and they may have offended you before. But let us love everyone as God loved us despite us disobeying him time to time and his love is so great that he sent jesus christ down to save us. God has forgiven us, so we should also forgive those that may have offended us in terms of speech or action. =)

Prayer:
Thank God for giving us life each and everyday, protecting us and being with us always.I pray that you would help us to love our neighbour as ourselves and thank God for showing your great love for us. Help us to forgive those whom offended us, and show love and care for them. I also want to pray for your forgiveness whenever we disobey you and try to do things our own way. I pray that we would always be prayerful and seek for you.Thank God for everything that you have given us and let us live our life according to your will.

Amen

( QT: SHOW ME THE MONEY!! @ 7:45 PM )

"Give me an eagerness for your laws rather than a love for money!"

Psalm 119:36 (NLT)

SHOW -- Has the store's SHOW case or marketing techniques tempted me?
Rule #1 Never make unplanned purchases, even if you're thinking, "I have been on the lookout for this." If that is the case, it should be on your list.

ME- Is this about ME or the best interests of the family or community?
Rule #2 God didn't give us money just to make us feel good. When it comes to money topics in the Bible, money is used for things like personal care, giving to others, and paying taxes.

THE -- What is THE purpose for the purchase?
Rule #3 Treat money as if it were a serious tool to be used for the following: glorifying God, providing for the family, and serving others.

MONEY- Do I have the MONEY for this? If not, what can I do to get the money?
Rule #4 This rule is so simple it hurts. When there is no money, there is no shopping.

Something that i learn:

This month my money was tight. I come to realize even more that it is really important to be discipline in my handling of money. Even if i have more money at the moment. i have to take note that especially when i see something that I'll like to buy i should not buy it if it is not planned. Not even if it's something that is useful, i should not buy it if they are not planned within my tight budget.
This idea cause me to be a bit "sian" that i cannot just spend on something as and when i like but I'm convicted that this is one part of life where i need to learn to be a better steward, so that God may be pleased. Especially when you had over spent and had to "thicken" my skin to go and ask mummy for more.. haha..=D

( We All Have a Story to Tell -- Sharon Jaynes @ 12:38 AM )

Today's Truth

"Neither this man or his parents sinned," said Jesus, "but this happened so that the work of God might be displayed in his life" (John 9:2-3 NIV).

Every follower of Christ has a story to tell. This is who I was...this is who I am now. Traditionally, we call our stories a testimony. In a court of law, a testimony is an eye-witness account. A man or woman cannot sit on the witness stand and tell what someone else told them about an incident. They can only tell what they saw with their own eyes or heard with their own ears. Likewise, the most powerful story we can tell is what Christ has done for us and how He brought us from death to life!

The Story

One day, Jesus was walking down the dusty road of Jerusalem and came upon a blind man sitting by the road. Jesus spat in the dust, made a clay paste, and rubbed the paste on the blind man's eyes. "Go wash at the Pool of Siloam," he told the man.

When the man washed the sacred mud from his eyes, for the first time in his life he could see the rays of the sun, the ripples on the water, and the lines on the palms of his hands. He received his sight.

The dirt held no miraculous powers - it never is. It was, however, what Jesus did with the dirt that transformed it into a healing balm. And so it is in our own lives.

The people in the town were amazed. "Is this the same man we have seen begging by the road for so many years?" they asked.

"It's me," he replied with joy. "The very one."

"How did your eyes get opened?" they asked.

"A man named Jesus made a paste and rubbed it on my eyes and told me, 'Go to Siloam and wash.' I did what he said. When I washed, I saw."

The religious officials did not like the fact that Jesus healed this man on the Sabbath. They were more concerned with the binding law than the blinded man, so they called the man in to question him.

"He put a clay paste on my eyes, and I washed, and now I see."

Still not satisfied, they called in the man's parents and questioned them.

"We know he is our son, and we know he was born blind. However, we don't know how he came to see-haven't a clue about who opened his eyes. Why don't you ask him? He's a grown man and can speak for himself."

So they brought the man blind from birth back in for further questioning.

"Give credit to God," they said. "We know this man is an imposter."

He replied, "I know nothing about that one way or the other. But I know one thing for sure: I was blind...I now see."

Yes, the blind man now had a story to tell. God planned it all along. Before the miracle took place, Jesus' disciples asked, "Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents that he was born blind?"

"Neither this man or his parents sinned," said Jesus, "but his happened so that the work of God might be displayed in his life" (John 9:2-3).

Sometimes life doesn't turn out like we thought it would, and we cry "Why Lord? Why?" And God's response is the same...so that the work of God might be displayed in your life.

What I learnt
As Christians, our journey towards knowing God is full of hardship.
We can only trust that God would provide in these difficult times,
to overcome the obstacles and grow stronger spiritually in the process.
God places trials in our life to let us learn to depend on Him and experience His love for us. Let us be changed completely in Christ and show the NCts the qualities a Christian should bear fruit to and influence them as the salt and light of the world, displaying the work of God in our new life, through our testimony to the people around us.

My Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
Let us start anew as salt and light of the world,
forgive us our sins, and let us learn to depend on You,
whenever we face difficult moments, give us strength,
to face it and grow to know you more.
Let us bear fruits pleasing to Your eyes,
and bring our friends closer to You,
as they see the testimony of our changed life.
Thank you Lord for choosing us to display the miracles of Your work.

In Jesus' Name,
Amen

( Give Until it Hurts! -- Mary Southerland @ 10:27 PM )

Today's Truth

Matthew 7:7-11 Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened. Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!

The Story

I have always loved giving gifts to my children, and now, we have two grandchildren -- twins, a boy and a girl. I am in so much trouble! A few days ago, I took our daughter-in-law and the twins shopping. Seriously, shopping for these babies has become a love-driven passion for me, or as I am now known, Mimi. I had a list of items I wanted to purchase but was disappointed when I found only half of the items on the list. However, it was getting late and the babies began to "tell" us that they were ready for dinner and bedtime! We checked out, loaded the babies into the car and headed home.

When Jodi leaned over to kiss my cheek and thank me for the gifts, I looked at her and said, "It's not enough!" Jodi chuckled, but I was serious! "No, you don't understand, honey. We have to go shopping again because I haven't given the babies enough and my heart is not excited enough yet!" I know. I am totally ruined but I am going to try very hard not to ruin Jaydan and Lelia. (The projected success rate does not look good right now, but I promise to work on it.)

On the way home, I began to analyze my words and my heart. I don't really know how to explain what I feel for Jaydan and Lelia, but it is sort of like watching my heart walk around on the outside of my body. I know that I can love them in so many ways...and I do. Looking back, I realize that I was pretty much the same way with our own children. I didn't have money then, and I don't have money now but I was always looking for ways to give them gifts.

Our Father has the same heart - a giving heart - when it comes to giving His children good things. The problem is that we don't really believe it! One of the most tragic results of our unbelief is an ineffective prayer life. We pray, not really believing that God will answer those prayers.

In Matthew 7:7-11, Jesus is teaching about prayer and about the very nature of God. He relates it to something we all can understand, the child-parent relationship. The son has been out in the fields working all day. By the time he comes home, he is starving. His family is seated at the dinner table and dishes of steaming, delicious food are being passed around. Imagine that the Father tosses his son a rock and says, "Here! Eat this!" Jesus is driving home the truth that good fathers want to give their kids good gifts. Now if this is true of earthly parents (and grandparents), imagine what our Heavenly Parent wants to give us.

No one's voice sounds sweeter to God than your voice, friend. Nothing in the universe would keep Him from giving you His full attention when you pray! In Psalm 34:8, the psalmist invites us to "taste and see that the LORD is good". In this verse, "Lord" means "Jehovah, Abba Father".

Don't think you have to figure out a way to steal a blessing from God. Don't think you have to trick Him into giving up what He would rather keep for Himself. It is God's very nature to give to His children. He is a giving God with a heart that longs to bless, to encourage, to empower and to love you. God is not only able to answer your prayer, but God wants to answer your prayer.

My Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for letting me realize that my parents will always choose what they think is good for me, even though I might be grumbling for their decision. Please forgive me for doubting whether You do hear our prayers and answer it.I know now that as long as it is good for me, You would give it to me when I ask, as You love us, as your children. Help me to secure my faith in Your love.

In Jesus name I pray,
Amen

Read and meditate on the following verses:

* Psalm 17:18 Keep me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings.
* Psalm 149:4 For the LORD takes delight in his people; he crowns the humble with salvation.
* Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
* Romans 8:39 Neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Make a list of the ways God has proven His love for you.

Think back over your life and begin a list of God's gifts to you. Add to your list each week. Be sure to date each entry.

Begin another list of the gifts you can give God. Pray, asking the Father to love others through you and in doing so, realize His love for you as never before

( A Coincidence or a Guardian Angel - Melody Hadley @ 9:00 PM )

The Verse

Psalm 91:11-12 (NIV) For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.

The Story

In Matthew 18:10 (NIV) we learn from Jesus as He warns His followers not to look down upon children: "...their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven." By these verses, we can conclude that no person, no matter what their age, no matter what their circumstance is unworthy of God's notice and care.

The world can be a very scary, dangerous place. We find ourselves in situations that threaten our physical and/or spiritual being. God's people can be assured that they have supernatural defenders always available, even as did the people of biblical times. Remember Daniel, who was thrown into the lion's den and to the surprise of all the bystanders, was saved. Daniel 6:22 (NIV) relates: "My God sent his angel and he shut the mouths of the lions. They have not hurt me..."

Perhaps the most notable evidence of angelic protection can be seen in the Christmas story. Read Matt.2:13 (NKJV). God sends an angel guardian in a special way. Here we are told: " ...an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying 'Arise, take the young Child and His mother, flee to Egypt, and stay there until I bring you Word, for Herod will seek the young Child to destroy Him."

My personal encounter with a guardian angel happened in 1974. I had just completed a midnight shift at the hospital. It was 8:00AM and I was almost to the street where my husband, our two young sons and I lived. I fell asleep at the wheel, going 55MPH. To this day, I remember nothing from the time I left the hospital parking lot, until one mile from our house. My eyes flew open as my car efficiently, gracefully glided around the mailbox that was inches from my fender. Coincidence?--I think not. Did I "see" an angelic being? No. Do I believe an angel or angels were present, to wake me up and to guide the car to safety, avoiding a possible deadly collision? Absolutely!!

We are responsible for keeping our eyes open and our hearts receptive to the special guardians God has for us. We should never pray to an angel--we are to pray to God when asking for help or comfort. He alone decides when and where to dispatch angels (or perhaps humans on "angelic" assignments).

Acrostic Poem

A. always
N. nearby
G. God's
E. emissaries
L. lovingly
S. serve

What I learnt from it

God will keep us away from danger, and will watch over us,
even though we are unworthy of His love.
An Angelic Mission:
We should also look out for fellow Christians and also non-Christians,
caring and comforting them, as who knows, maybe the smile on your face or a encouragement card may just brighten their day! =)

My Prayer
Our Heavenly Father,
Please forgive me, for the times when I blame you, for times of hurt and pain,
Thank your promise of angels to watch over my safety,
and when I'm feeling low, to comfort me and save me from hurt.
Thank You Lord
In Jesus Name I Pray

Amen

( @ 1:00 AM )

A New Day, A New Beginning, looking forward to school, anyone?
Perhaps at this moment, many of us are busy rushing your work at the last minute, hoping to finish it before school, burning midnight oil, only to find yourself sleeping in class the next day.
So, WAKE UP PEOPLE! Stop this routine this Semester, let's try doing our homework way before you're supposed to hand it in. Plan ahead, have a timetable, try to finish your work immediately after school or even in your lessons.
If you do so, you'll find yourself really at ease, not bothered by the piles of homework you see on your desk. Remember what Jia Yan taught us. Don't waste time anymore, every second is never the same XD
